Bantry town is flanked on one side by the Maritime Hotel and the other by the largest Supervalu you’ve ever seen. (For to the Americans, this is where you’ll go for your grocery provisions) Past the Supervalu you can enter the Belcin Loop Walk – a charming promenade offering breathtaking bay views. At the end of the trail lies a sheltered shingle beach fully accessible to wheelchairs.
There are a plethora of activities to add to your itinerary – hop on a ferry to the pub on Whiddy Island, charter a fishing boat for the catch of the day, embark on horseback tours, perfect your swing at the golf course, or set sail on boat tours exploring the wonders of the harbor.

The Ring of Kerry/Star Wars 2.5 hours to the cliffs / islands

Embark on the ultimate Star Wars-inspired journey, using the Ring of Kerry as your highway to the mystical Skellig Islands . To access monastery, set your alarm for an early departure; the ferry leaves between 8 am and 10 am, depending on the day. It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to travel there from Bantry. If hiking isn't your vibe, boat trips throughout the day offer glimpses of the island without breaking a sweat. Be warned: the seas can get rough, and the boats may get cancelled.
Hit the road at sunrise through the enchanting Glengariff and the Caha Pass. Continue your journey through Kenmare, where a left turn marks the beginning of your iconic Ring of Kerry expedition. Mizen Head - one hour southwest

Don't miss Barleycove Beach and nearby Three Castle Head. If you’re looking for more exploration drop Altar Tomb near Schull in the map, it’s a cool spot for ancient site enthusiasts, with stunning views to match. Take a detour to Crookhaven and Brow Head for more coastal wonders.
The Berra Peninsula - * Our top rec in terms of beauty and convenience *
The Berra Peninsula is a serene alternative to the bustling Ring of Kerry. A haven for walkers and bikers, it promises a quieter escapade. Allihies ( 1 hour) boasts the famous Ballydonegan beach, a blue-flag beach with white sands. The town is an artistic hub, offering locally-made treasures and trad music.
For a scenic loop at your own pace, venture to Adrigole. This route leads you to The Healy Pass (45 minutes) and Lauragh. Enjoy pit stops at Josie’s Lakeview House and Pedals & Boots Café, offering homemade delights and a cozy atmosphere. On the opposite side of the peninsula, don't miss a stop at Helen’s Bar for fresh seafood and unforgettable views. If you’re traveling with children, consider a visit to The Naked Sheep - Alpaca. Coninue on to Kenmare, a gem for food and accommodations. Once thoroughly satisfied (and perhaps a bit exhausted), wind your way back to Bantry via the scenic Caha Mountains. Adventure awaits on this charming ring road trip!
A brief sidebar - We LOVE Kenmare. (45 minutes) Stay the night, make it home base for a few days. It serves as a fantastic launching point for exploring the west.
